Doug has been handcrafting split cane fly rods as a passion for over twenty years, and his rods are appreciated by collectors and traditionalist around the world. Teaching rod making is his way of ensuring that the craft he loves and its heritage will be handed down. He has been selected three times (of four occasions) to be one of eighteen international makers to create the “Makers Rod”.
Programs just for you
Doug is available to teach rod making, rod finishing or casting to you as an individual or to your group. Individual or group classes are available (for rod making classes the maximum class size is normally 6 students. All tools and materials are supplied, additional material fee’s may be involved depending on the class). Contact Doug directly for information about classes or presentations / lectures on the history and process of rod making. Ideal for groups of all kinds including fund raisers and team building.
